Megawatt Kit:

The megawatt-Hour Meter is offered as a package, along with a voltage panel and a current sensor.

The voltage panel measures voltage out of the Main Generator; the current sensor measures Main Generator amps, and together these numbers are used to calculate total power output.

The above diagram shows how the Megawatt Meter ties into the locomotive’s systems.
The Current Sensor is placed on one of the cables connecting the Main Generator to one of the Buses.
The current measured will be multiplied by total number of cables between the Main Generator and the Bus to determine total current output of the Main Generator.
The High Voltage Panel has two leads connected to each Bus of the Main Generator to determine total voltage output.
The Display Unit uses these two figures to calculate the total power output from the Main Generator.

Fuel Level Monitoring Alone:

If fuel level monitoring is all you’re looking for, without megawatt hour tracking, your display will come with an ultrasonic fuel level sensor, and two fuel displays for each side of your locomotive.

Fuel Level and Megawatt Hour Monitoring:

To get an accurate picture of your locomotive’s energy expenditure (and to find out whether your energy-saving efforts are working), pair the Megawatt Hour feature with the Fuel Level monitoring feature. These together will gather for you the most accurate data. This data is stored as trip logs and collectively.
